LDT400x Week 3

A Kirkpatrick Level 2 quiz specifically gauges the learning outcomes by testing participants on the material covered in the training. This could involve multiple-choice questions, true/false questions, short answers, or practical demonstrations to see how well participants have understood and retained the information presented during the training session.

The quiz I created for Be Your Own Herbalist is designed to test knowledge for the following Course Learning Outcomes:

1. Explain the basics of Ayurvedic, TCM, and Western herbal frameworks and list their similarities and differences.

2. Identify the main herbal energetic qualities and their relationship to a variety of common health conditions.

Explain the basics of the Ayurvedic herbal framework and how Vata, Pitta, and Kapha impact herb selection.

Learning Materials and Activities

The quiz is based on foundational information found in the Herbal Frameworks and Energetics module as well as two glossaries that are also available in the resources section. This information is primarily text based, as it includes lists of herbal medicinal properties and energetics. A brief video will be provided to also explain some of these concepts.

Reflection

Creating this quiz was a little challenging at first, as I had not previously created a quiz using Canvas. Some of the interface is not intuitive, and involves click on various "talk" boxes in different shades of color without strong contrast. (The Canvas team could do a better job making this interface more intuitive and accessible.) However, now that the quiz is in place, I can view the test results from various students to see how well they are learning the materials in the Herbal Frameworks and Energetics module. If the quiz is too difficult for students, it might indicate a need to explain things better in the course materials.
